Texas Municipal League - "Legislator of the Year": The Texas Municipal League, which represents more than 1,000 Texas cities, recognized State Rep. Mike Villarreal’s outstanding public service during the 79th Legislative Session. Villarreal’s expertise in our state’s tax system and his efforts to ensure local government’s ability to provide services for taxpayers earned him TML’s vote as “Legislator of the Year.”
Texas Monthly - "10 Best Legislators": Texas Monthly magazine recognized Representative Villarreal as one of the "Ten Best Legislators" of the 79th legislative session citing his ability to work across party lines as well as his capacity to grapple with complex tax policy.
National Conference of State Legislators - Revenue Committee appointee: Because of his outstanding work on the House Ways and Means Committee, he was chosen to represent Texas on the National Conference of State Legislators Revenue Committee. NCSL is a national organization of state legislators.
Preservation Texas - "Public Service Award": Preservation Texas, statewide chapter, honored Villarreal for his work to revitalize urban neighborhoods and his efforts to empower communities to plan development.
