Political Office - Internship Position Description
Intern will assist Political Director with all aspects of the Representative’s political office.
Duties include:
- Building community profiles,
- Assisting with execution of fundraising plan,
- Assisting with social media outreach,
- Assisting with video production, and
- Researching donor prospects,
- Data gathering and entry,
- Assisting with planning and staffing fundraising events,
- Other fundraising/network building activities.
Position is for 15 to 40 hours a week.
Graduate students are encouraged to apply.
This is a great opportunity to gain significant and substantive campaign experience and develop relationships in Texas politics.
Qualifications:
- Be a self-starter able to multi-task and prioritize tasks. Be motivated, confident, fun, hard working and interested in democratic politics. Able to maintain confidentiality in your work.
- College degree preferred, however mature college junior or senior may be considered.
- Demonstrated familiarity or desire to learn about political fundraising & state election process.
- Exceptional organizational, writing and analytical skills.
- Strong computer aptitude and database management skills.
- Must be proficient in Microsoft excel. Microsoft Access a plus.
- NGP and Texas VAN database experience a major plus.
- Ability to work from home and travel as needed.

Compensation: Though our internship positions are unpaid, we work closely with students to meet their academic goals, and some students receive academic credit for their work with our office. Additionally, our office has often hired successful former interns as paid staff during subsequent legislative sessions or campaigns.
