Bella participated in her first spelling bee at Bonham Academy. It was in Spanish. When she came home she told me with a big smile on her face how she spelled her first word correctly and was able to sit down in the first round. She was very proud of herself. I thought, “that’s an interesting new way to run a spelling bee.” She than told me how the best reader in the class had to take a number of turns to finally spell her word correctly and then sit down. Hmmm. Jeanne tried to explain how spelling bees actually work. Bella’s response: “Maybe they will do it that way next year.”
