Can you believe it?  I have served in the Texas legislature for more than 10 years.  I still remember the first time I walked into Pete Gallegos’ office and noticed two of his staffers eying me as if I were the new intern.

I am proud of what we have accomplished these last ten years for Texas families. I am also honored by the recognition our work has received including being the first San Antonio lawmaker ever to make the Texas Monthly Top 10 list (2005), and also to have received honorable mention from the publication in 2009 for my work to fund Texas Grants for 36,000 more college students. Last year I also received the Renewable Energy Association's "State Leadership Award" for passing the only renewable energy bill of the session.
